I would like to see a calendar sidebar. I think this is just a matter of making the calendar sidebar (which displays the events) available from the navigator.

Can you assign it to me if no one else is going to take this up? I'm got familer with how to deal with calendar data while trying to produce rdf datasource (which is still ongoing, need to work out a good graph model).

Mike, are you still working on this? If not, I think I have a few ideas to get this to work.
Sorry, I am bit busy with personal life right now. Please take it if you do.

Here's my suggestion from a recent newsgroup thread: - Today' Timeline (default: 8:00 - 18:00) - dropdown date selector (with "go to today" button) - doubleclick on event edits existing event, - doubleclick on blank area creates new event - ToDo List - doubleclick on Task edits that task - slitter resizable __________ | Calendar \ +---------------------------+ | Events [New] [Day View v] | | ------------------------- | | < [28.02.2003 v] > | <-- dropdown includes a | ------------------------- | [Go To Today] button | 8:00 ^| | 8:30 |All day party | | | ... | | | | ... | | | | ... +---------------+ | | 18:00 Eat cake v| |===========^^^^============| | Tasks [New] | | ------------------------- | | x Title Due ..| | ------------------------- | | Calendar Sidebar 1.5.03| | x Finish Project 2.5.03| | Get out of Bed 3.5.03| | | +---------------------------+

Brilliant! What do you think about using the sidebar to check for alarms and show some visual notification, as well as trigger a sound? In that way the systemtray notifier for Calendar, as well as mail would get some code to kick off. Who is not waiting for it? ;) Sven

Allows more rapid scrolling of Month AND Year. Also, clicking on todays date (at bottom) immediately jumps to today. Advantage: Quick access to "go to today" functionality PLUS display of today's date & time.

Dont put it all in the sidebar, make it like outlook. I would like to see the calender on the account list just as the emails and Rss feeds, and when we select the calender "account" on the list it changes the right pane to be the calender and the toolbar buttons to match this context. Under calender "account" on the account list in the sidebar pane of thunderbird we can add new calenders or maybe different TASKS. I want outlook functionality in order to migrate from Outlook to Thunderbird. Without that, no need to leave outlook then. Dont have this in a SEPERATE WINDOW (but keep this as an option) or all in the side bar (keep this as an option too).
