Some users are still seeing distorted colors like bug 1417442. For example, see bug 1417442 comment 86. It seems related to nvidia devices instead of AMD.

Jean-Yves, any ideas here?

I guess we need about:support information.
Flags: needinfo?(jyavenard)
Not enough information to say...

the previous report (forked into bug 1422114) isn't actually about playing video, and the user was using windows 7 (where there's no concept of nv12 vs rgb surface).

So:
1- Is the problem happening for video playback or rendering of any content.
2- Is the user using Windows 7 or later.
3- Is setting the use-nv12-format to false fix the problem?

1- Just video playback here (mostly on Facebook).
2- Windows 10 Pro 64bits here with the latest NVIDIA drivers.
3- I don't know what that is and never changed any settings related.
Go to about:config

look for a use-nv12-format preference, and toggle its value from true to false.

Attempt to play the video again.

is the issue fixed?

Nope. Stays the same.
Can you set media.wmf.dxva.d3d11.enabled to false and see if that fixes it for you?

Otherwise, you'll have to disable hardware acceleration in the Preferences -> General -> Performance
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4580

Could it be this? Microsoft already fixed it in Windows 10 Insider builds as the page mentions, but no one knows when the fix will be released to regular users.

https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/11/22/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-17046-pc/

"We fixed a community reported issue where display colors became distorted after upgrading on some TV’s and monitors that incorrectly advertised support for 10/12 bit wire formats."

This bug was caused by Microsoft's Windows 10 changes and monitors/tvs with bad EDID, it is not an Nvidia driver bug.

Already did that before you said it. Doesn't work.
Disabling HW acceleration does fix it though, but videos become color sharpened.
Anyway, I'm waiting for a real fix.

Not related! Not the same bug. This bug only happens in Firefox.
Chrome works just fine with HW Accel on or off.

Can you please provide about:support as well as the output from dxdiag?

My FF is in PTBR (Portuguese).

I don't see how can I post my dxdiag here.

I found the attach buttom.

This issue does have a very significant impact on browsing experience. It occurs often, and only in few cases can it be negated by switching the video to a lower resolution. On my machine, firefox is no longer a reliable web-browser as long as this issue exists. PLaying video's is an important function.
Because of this, I suggest increasing the importance even further.

If any information is required, I am willing to assist.

Hardware decoding (and compositing) is disabled on your machine. So entirely different issue. You have a nvidia GTS 450, with unknown driver version (23.21.13.8813), make sure you install the latest drivers from nvidia version 390.65

It is however the same grapics card I have. Too much coincidence there.
no it isn't.. this bug was for AMD cards and for hardware decoding.

you use neither
oops my bad, wrong bug :)

I have a nvidia gtx 550 TI, not a gts 450, also I always keep my drivers updated, yesterday I installed the latest version (390.65) as soon as it came up.

I got the same graphic card as you tho, so probably it's related?
I have the same problem with GTS 450 Graphic Card (In my opinion it's a bug with specifics grapghics cards)
GTX 460M here, same problem.
GTX 560, same problem, latest drivers.
I noticed I only get the problem when the content is being played back at 60fps
