User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0
Build ID: 20171129230719

Steps to reproduce:

Environment: Kubuntu Linux, Firefox Quantum 57.0.1 64-bit

I'm using a Finnish version of Firefox, so apologies if the translations are not 100% accurate for English.

1. Create an empty profile by starting "firefox -P" and select the profile to be used automatically.
2. Go to (Firefox Menu / Edit menu) > Preferences > General.
3. From the "When Firefox starts", choose "Restore windows and tabs from the previous session"
4. Open an empty tab (though this is optional).
5. Open another tab for content. At least the riemurasia.net site (for example https://www.riemurasia.net/kuva/Hot-n-ready/208699) will trigger the issue.
6. Navigate between the site content with right/left arrows.
7. Pay attention to the page that was last displayed.
8. Close firefox.
9. Start firefox.
If necessary, repeat steps 6-9 multiple times.

Actual results:

Occasionally (I'd say between 1/3 to 1/6 of times) Firefox restores wrong page. It is basically a snapshot of an older state.

(Note: Sometimes the restored state is very old, it can be something like 30 minutes. Although I'm not sure if that happens on an empty profile, as I used to have browser.sessionstore.interval with a modified value. But regardless of the value, Firefox should save the state at exit)

Expected results:

Firefox should restore the exact tabs that were open when closing firefox.

I'm sorry, but I can't seem to reproduce this bug.

However, in the meantime we've made a couple of changes to sessionstore that improved its reliability in more recent Firefox versions. Can you try upgrading?

Please feel free to reopen this bug if you're still experiencing this issue and have reliable STR.
