Details

Open Nightly and perform usual browsing(as in video) and notice CPU spikes.
CPU usages never drops below 20% and different sites spike at different rates
Memory rise can also be seen

Yes it does mostly on Outlook, Twitter, TheVerge, Wired and other heavy webpages.

I've found 2 specific sites where this spiking nature is regular.
All 4 cores of the CPU get to 50%+ & fans spinning and remain the same there after until tab or browser close.

Kindly take a look, i really hope this profile helps more than the previous ones.
Florian - anything here that looks actionable to you? The jank bars in the profiles don't look that bad, but they're on the main thread which is confusing?

The main thread jank looks related to add-ons watching all network requests, and I suspect there's an add-on adding several listeners, causing us to notify the add-on several times for each network request.

I would try to identify what the add-ons with the following ids / responsible for these files are:
moz-extension://15f7b694-1c05-437f-8145-19a8de65b468/background.js
moz-extension://22ab572d-44c8-416b-92d6-d51d8600da01/background/main.js

For the CPU usage and the fan spinning, we would want to figure out why we are compositing all the time for 16s in a row, while there doesn't seem to be much activity in the content processes.

This is Video DownloadHelper
This profile is with the addons disabled - https://perfht.ml/2DSZA8k
The spikes/fan spin continue to happen
It seems https://forum.freecodecamp.org/assets/ has scripts that consume a lot of CPU, but there's also that we seem to be compositing/painting all the time (at each refresh driver tick), I wonder if there's a bug there.
Hm. My initial guess was that this is because on Linux, by default, I think we still have hardware acceleration disabled. This means we're doing all compositing on the CPU.

But looking at the important changed preferences you supplied, it looks like layers.acceleration.force-enabled is set to true already.

Looking deeper at the profile, what I see is the compositor doing a lot of compositing, and chatting with your graphics driver. I'm really not certain if there's anything unusual in there - especially if you're looking at some kind of animation or video.

At any rate, I've queued this for analysis on Joy of Profiling, the next episode of which should be posted on Friday on Air Mozilla.
https://perfht.ml/2DYgUsz

Here another profile with freecodecamp, geeksforgeeks and codepen.io
Taken on a fresh profile so layers.acceleration.force-enabled is false.
Hope it helps to narrow down the problem.

Did you end up analyzing this profile?
Flags: needinfo?(mconley)
Yes - we actually examined it over two episodes of TJoP - ep's 18 and 19[1] (although I think we did a more thorough job in 19).

I want to emphasize that the Gecko Profiler / perf.html is not really optimized for finding the causes for high CPU usage - it's optimized for finding jank (dropped frames). So unfortunately this means that our findings aren't super satisfying.

What we found in the profile was lots of little bursts of JS activity, but no real obvious culprit for memory or CPU usage. Ultimately, the most actionable thing we found out was that perf.html needs some features to help us investigate problems like this. We filed a few issues for those[2].

I just opened up https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/sieve-of-eratosthenes/ for myself, and I'm also experiencing high CPU usage on the site. When I profile using the DevTools profiler, it looks like it's mostly JavaScript running in advertisements on the page.

So, bull500, my advice to you is to try turning your adblocker on again and seeing if that helps with these two sites.
