See the attached testcase in bug 1403986 comment 1. In this testcase, the first line and last line only have ellipsis applied when the Inspector is open.

I'm not sure how to trigger that via script.

Note that bug 1403986 is probably undesired behavior, and we probably want to change it to not apply ellipsis when the line would become empty other than ellipsis. In that case, there may be no need to fix this bug, since it seems to only happen when the atomic inline element is the first element in the line.

Is this still valid, or did bug 1403986 make it obsolete? I can't seem to reproduce in Nightly locally...

I cannot reproduce anything described here, so yeah it's probably WORKSFORME now.
