User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Build ID: 20171128222554 Steps to reproduce: I'm using a smartphone with Android 6 and 1 GB RAM. When switching between active apps, as soon as Android must start swapping, Firefox performs some sort of "page /session reload" when getting activated / fetched to front again, incl. re-asking for a previously entered master password. Actual results: "Landing" page after this "session reload" is the web page's defined landing page, not (!) the maybe last visited subpage Consequentially any previously made form entries / filled out fields are gone at that point. Remark: This behavior is completely time-independent. It can be reproduced on my device when switching from Firefox to whatever other app and back again to Firefox in a second. Expected results: This behaviour is very annoying. IMHO it's a common use case to manually copy&paste information between two apps, like a web page in firefox and android contact information, email content etc. - not possible. Firefox should be able to swap out / swap in a session without loosing all information, incl. the previously asked master password
Form data should work in principle, although more complex pages might be problematic - please file separate bugs giving specific examples (or ideally a reduced test case) for that. Logins might partially depend on restoring session cookies, which would be bug 1335052. For this bug this therefore leaves only the question of whether and how [1] to do something about the master password when Firefox is OOM-killed. [1] Presumably somehow involving the saved instance state data?
