default save of files reverts back to downloads despite desktop being choice in options

Steps to reproduce:
saved files. can't find files. files are saved in downloads folder. checked firefox settings options download location. it is set to desktop, as I have always had it. changed temporarily to ask every time. saved. changed back to desktop. saved file, it saved to desktop. closed/ relaunched firefox. pos saves to downloads again despite still showing desktop as my choice in options.
Actual results:
your firefox update is a pos.
Expected results:
firefox hq should have come out with a revision on day 1.
