User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Build ID: 20180106205129 Steps to reproduce: Go to address bar, enter 2 words (usually it results in a google search), press enter. Actual results: Nothing happened. If I click an arrow button to the right the tab is cleaned and there is a dot jumping from left to the right. So the search is broken. If I enter one word without spaces a website opens with the www prefixed, so looks like ff now has difficulty with spaces in the address bar, does not understand that this is a search. Expected results: A google search page should be displayed with the results.
Also, while entering the text I get search suggestions, but when I click on any or select with nav keys and press enter the browser does not navigate there.
Please test if the issue can be reproduced in the safe mode of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode If you still have the problem please download the Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ and retest the problem with a new profile following these steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager

Nice resolution :) I resolved it by force setting my Linux to only use FF 45, ignoring the newer versions. When that stops working I'll probably just go with Chrome.
