print preview does not work from compose window

Details

On an existing received message, print preview works fine.
On that same message edited as new in the compose window, print preview hangs in the small dialog saying "Preparing..." .

There is an error in the Error console:
21:33:21.283 TypeError: aStr is null 1 printPreviewProgress.js:21:1
	ellipseString chrome://global/content/printPreviewProgress.js:21:1
	onLoad chrome://global/content/printPreviewProgress.js:79:18
	onload chrome://global/content/printPreviewProgress.xul:1:1

The second attempt at print preview from that same compose window tends to succeed.
I already fixed that.
