STR:
1.) On a desktop browser visit https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/mobile/
2.) In the global nav and sub nav on the right, click the "Download Firefox" button
Expected results:
I should be offered a Firefox mobile product.
Actual results:
I get redirected to /firefox/new/?scene=2, and receive Firefox for desktop.
----
We should probably hide the download button on the nav on this page? (since there is a choice of 2 products, we can't make it link to just one).

So I get what Alex is saying but under the current navigation system I'm not sure that it's obvious that a user knows they are on the mobile page from the navigation view. I would say we keep is as is for now but keep this in mind when re-designing the navigation (soon hopefully).
One other thing to note is that if a user does click on that button they do have the option on the new screen to download mobile. Not ideal, but it's hard for us to know if a user really does want to download the mobile version just because they are in the mobile section of Fx.

Yeah, the nav really does need redesigning, but unfortunately I don't think that's likely to happen any time soon :(

This is true, but only after the browser auto-downloads the desktop product which isn't great.

So here is where I could be persuaded. If we can show the user that they are in the mobile section of Fx then I could agree and say, "yes there is no need for that button when in the mobile section." Is that doable? We would also need to highlight when a user is on the desktop section (the other three are all external links).

Anything is do-able, but if we add this functionality for the Firefox sub-nav, we should really do the same for all the other sub nav sections on the site (which sounds like it should be a separate bug to me).

Agree, if we do it for Firefox sub nav then we should do it for all sub navs.

If you can file a new bug for this and/or put a card for it it on the Taiga board, I can add it as a blocker to this bug? I'd be happy to try and fix both the things. Thanks!

Added an animated .gif of the issue to hopefully help illustrate why I think the current behavior is confusing.
