Hey Peiying, Flod, and Théo Firstly I'd like to introduce you to our newest team member (and my replacement) Michelle (cc'd). She will be spearheading snippets and all the fun that comes with them. And now to some sweet, sweet, localization goodness: Can you please localize the snippets below by Feb 1st. I’ve added written context to each snippet. Please let Michelle and Jean know if you need anything else. Thanks! P.S. It's been a joy working with y'all. and I Mock-ups: Localize for: DE, ZH-TW, CS, RU, FR, PT-BR, and ES. If possible, please keep character count under 160, it is alright if you need to go over. Delight Link (if applicable): No link Copy: Sunglasses repel harmful UV rays, make you look cool and give the bridge of your nose something to do. What’s not to love? Context: Cool is another way of saying enviable and trendy. Mozilla mission Link: no link Copy: Mozilla is a global non-profit dedicated to putting you in control of your online experience and shaping the future of the web for the public good. Context: We are trying to clearly tell users what Mozilla stands for. If you have a suggestion for a page the snippet should link to please let us know. Containers Add-on Link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multi-account-containers/?utm_source=blog.mozilla.org&utm_campaign=firefox_frontier&utm_medium=referral Copy: Tired of using Chrome to view your 2nd email or social account? Now you can do it all in Firefox with <a>Multi-Account Containers!</a> Copy: "Tired of using multiple browsers to view your 2nd email? Now you can do it all in Firefox with Multi-Account Containers!" Copy: Using private browsing mode to juggle multiple accounts? Now there's a better way. <a>Try Multi-Account Containers!</a> Context: Containers lets users separate their browsing (online selves) into different color-coded tabs, that preserve privacy by separating cookies. These snippets attempt to explain the value of containers to users by offering specific usage scenarios. Mozilla Mission Link: No link Copy: Thanks for choosing Firefox and supporting an independent web. Context: Trying to show users that we appreciate them using Firefox and we want to reinforce that Firefox supports an open and independent web. Form Fill Link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/control-whether-firefox-automatically-fills-forms#utm_source=desktop-snippet&amp;utm_medium=snippet&amp;utm_campaign=form-fill&amp;utm_term=7306&amp;utm_content=rel Copy: Firefox can fill out forms for you, so you have more time to do important stuff online, like look at memes. Context: This snippet explains that Firefox can automatically fill in the fields of forms and that this feature saves the user time to do other things. The use of the activity of looking at memes is meant to be clever. Feel free to add another activity instead of memes more appropriate to your locale. Add-on Collection Link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/mozilla/essential-extensions/#utm_source=desktop-snippet&amp;utm_medium=snippet&amp;utm_campaign=add-ons&amp;utm_term=7343&amp;utm_content=rel Copy: Make Firefox even awesomer (awesomer is a word, right?) with something from our <a>essential add-ons collection.</a> Context: The purpose of this snippet is to encourage Firefox users to use add-ons to enhance their browser experience and functionality. We use the term "Awesomer" as a funny way to infer that using add-ons make things better. It is a deliberate use of a made-up word. We used "more awesome" instead of "more awesome." If this doesn't work in your locale, we can omit it or replace it with another term to that does work in your locale. Delight Link: No link Copy: Firefox is a free range, no hormones added, cruelty-free, 100% ethically sourced browser. Context: This snippet is designed to make light of conscious choosers by using food-related terms as a way to explain that Firefox is transparent and supports an open web. Meant to be silly. Mozilla Mission Link: No link Copy: Mozilla is a champion of the Open Web. Firefox is made by Mozilla. So every time you use Firefox, (like right now) you’re helping to make the web better for everyone. Context: Aligns Firefox and Mozilla and lets users know that when they use Firefox, they're helping Mozilla make the web better. Delight Link: No Link Copy: The new Firefox can be summed up in two words: faster and faster. OK, maybe that’s the same word twice. Context: Trying to be silly to reinforce the idea that Firefox is a fast browser. We're trying to say that Firefox is so fast that the word "fast" must be repeated.
Hello Wes, Thanks for prepping the snippets for Jan. The localization team will miss working with you! I am sure you will pass on the knowledge to Michelle. Welcome, Michelle! Don't hesitate to ping us with any questions you may have. I am going through the list of snippets. This one seems incomplete, unless you have mockups we can reference to. Doesn't say anything about Firefox or Mozilla. "Sunglasses repel harmful UV rays, make you look cool and give the bridge of your nose something to do. What’s not to love?".

Hey Peiying, we don't have mock ups, sorry, next time. The snippet you're referencing "Sunglasses repel harmful..." is only meant to delight the user. Nothing about Mozilla mission. Does that answer your question?
Flags: needinfo?(wwinton)
Thanks for the clarification. We will leave it as is.
Hi Peiying, Please add this text to the localization bug, in these locals: DE, ZH-TW, CS, RU, FR, PT-BR, and ES. Check this box to agree to Mozilla's privacy policy. Thank you!

Do you have a sense of what the icon will be? A pair of sun glasses, rays, a face? We would need to know what can be dropped/changed and what has to be kept because of the icon.

Because Form Autofill is US only for at least 58. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Features/Form_Autofill#Additional_Countries.28DE.2FCA.29_Support

If the string is localized, be mindful the timing of this feature is localized and launched. Alternatively, we can remove it from this month's request, and wait until the product is ready to revisit this snippet. Additionally, the *free range chicken* concept is foreign, strange in many countries and cultures. Many see this as the norm, nothing special. Is it ok if communities choose not to localize it if they find it difficult to do?

In regards to Form Fill - I checked the SUMO articles in FR and DE and those pages were completely translated, which made us assume they were available in other countries. Maybe Wes was getting ahead and wanted to have these ready when Form Fill is available outside of the US. Let's go ahead and have this translated and we'll make sure that it's US only. In regards to the free range chicken delight snippet - feel free to not localize if it's difficult to find a replacement. Thanks!

Will do. Thanks, Michal!
@Michelle, looks like all the languages are complete: https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/langchecker/?locale=all&website=6&file=snippets/2018/jan2018.lang. To access the strings, click on the file name on top of the page, which leads you to this page: https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/langchecker/?website=6&file=snippets/2018/jan2018.lang&action=translate. Click on the individual string, it will populate the localized versions. Let me know if you need anything else. If not, we can close the bug.
Thanks so much, Peiying! Let's close this bug.

Flod can you double confirm that the auto form fill is not available outside of US (even though the SUMO pages have been translated)? Thank you!

(In reply to Jean Collings from comment #15) > Flod can you double confirm that the auto form fill is not available outside > of US (even though the SUMO pages have been translated)? Thank you! I'm the one who provided comment 6 :) Based on bug 1417818, it should only be extended to DE and CA (Germany, Canada) in 59. For sure it's not in 58. But, this feature was developed in Taipei, and it looks like it's staying in Nightly instead of moving for DE/CA. Discussion is still ongoing.
