Details

Clear your profile on Fennec so it acts like a new install.

Navigate to maps.google.com.

Note that you get a popup requesting permission, but it goes away without user interaction.

Then you are left with Google maps with your location.

The permission popup should not go away without user interaction

And I should be able to say "no"
The disappearing prompt needs investigating, but I don't think Firefox is leaking any geodata here:
- After the prompt disappears, there's an error message that Google Maps couldn't determine my exact position
- No position marker is appearing on the map
- If Firefox doesn't yet have the Android location permission, the OS permission prompt is *not* triggered
Summary: Location appears to be shared with maps.google.com without user content → Location permission prompt is automatically dismissed when loading maps.google.com

[triage] Unlikely to be leaking data: non-critical.

Snorp, you marked this P2 – were you going to put someone from platform on it? If so, feel free to return to P2.

Not sure why I had marked P2, but P3 is fine.

Hi,

I was able to reproduce this issue with Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (Android 8.0), Nexus 6P (Android 8.1.0), and Nexus 9 (Android 7.1.1), on all builds Nightly 68.0a1 (2019-04-09), Beta 67.0b9, and Release 66.0.2.

Thanks!
