User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:50.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/50.0 Build ID: 20161123182536 Steps to reproduce: Open FireFox. Google search the path imdb Choose the path full cast and crew. open Actor in another tab. etc... I rolled back to version 50 and life is much better. Actual results: Memory surges immediately to over 400MB. Memory surges immediately to over 450MB and browser locks up for 3 to 7 seconds. Memory surges immediately to over 500MB and browser locks up for 3 to 17 seconds. Memory surges immediately to over 600MB and browser locks up for 3 to 17 seconds. etc... Expected results: Memory should have been A LOT LESS than 400MB to load Google. Memory should have been A LOT LESS than 450MB to search Google and not lock-up. Memory should have been A LOT LESS than 500MB to open page and not lock-up. Memory should have been A LOT LESS than 600MB to open page and not lock-up. etc...
The issues here on both 56 and 57, but things have been just getting worse and worse for a while. Version 2 had no issues at all, but my virus software Avast would not show as loaded. Avast works great with version 50, and the issues are not present.

Can you please try to reproduce the issue on the latest Nightly (https://nightly.mozilla.org) as well? If the issue is reproducible there, could you please get a performance profile using the add-on from https://perf-html.io/? Install the add-on, start collecting data, reproduce the issue, generate a report and then post it here. More information about the add-on can be found https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Performance/Reporting_a_Performance_Problem#Setting_up_the_Gecko_Profiler_extension.
