Steps to reproduce:

Installed a lot of add-ons. You have to watch the screenshot to understand this issue.


Actual results:

The add-on bar space overrides the location bar.


Expected results:

I suggest that we add these new functions to Firefox:
* Limit the add-on bar space to a desired ratio (default 33%) of the location bar.
* Hide the add-on bar completely by adding: View -> Toolbars -> Add-on bar

Without this option I have to customize the interface all the time I add a new bunch of add-ons by removing them. This is time consuming.

I suggest that the proposed way to hide the add-ons with "View -> Toolbars -> Add-on bar" will move all add-on icons to the "More tools..." button (see S3.Translator, Disabled, Stylish, etc on the screenshot).

The vast majority of users do not have this many add-ons. I don't think its worth the time and effort maintaining a solution for a very small number of users.

Yeah, this isn't a situation that enough users hit to make it worth our time to support dealing with. Note too that you can right-click on buttons in the toolbar and choose to move them to the overflow menu or remove them from the toolbar altogether without having to enter Customize mode.

I'm going to close this bug as wontfix based on the previous paragraph.

Yes sorry, "More tools..." that i mentioned is more precisely referred to as the the Overflow Menu.

The fastest way to remove all add-on icons is by: Customize -> Restore Defaults

A simple blocking "|" element can be introduced to "Customize...", what do you think about it?

For example, if you add the blocking element when four icons are visible, then icons from further installed add-ons will go to the Overflow Menu.

You can already directly control which add-ons go to the overflow menu by right clicking them both in and outside of customize mode and using the relevant menu entries. So this wouldn't add any new functionality, just add complexity. So no, we won't do this. I agree with Andy and Jared that this isn't a good use of development time/energy.
