User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 Build ID: 20180104101725 Steps to reproduce: There is no version info on update page (Firefox -> "Check for Updates"). If the user is on beta channel of some add-on and there is a new beta version, as well new release version, it's not clear that version is prompted as an update. Actual results: An update suggested without version info. Expected results: An update suggested with version info.

Sorry for the back and forth but beta versus release channels is a concept that only exists on AMO, the browser doesn't know anything about them. That is, when you're on the beta channel, the browser never finds out about updates on the release channel, and vice versa. And in any case, the "beta channel" feature is being removed from AMO: https://github.com/mozilla/addons-server/issues/7163

I am pretty sure that: if add-on releaseVer > betaVer, then the update is to releaseVer. It's that happened to me here: https://github.com/ssborbis/ContextSearch-web-ext/issues/12#issuecomment-358216219 Also, knowing the version info may be relevant and helpful not only because of AMO beta/release versions, and even without beta channel. For example, some add-on expected to release an important new version (like Web Extension rewrite). This version is talked about on some forum or GitHub. The user should know that exactly he prompted to update (as maybe the user prefer to wait with this version).

Even more, sometimes add-on developers not provide any changelog, and the version info is the only hint that the update is about (for further possible info on GitHub/forum).
You set the needinfo flag but didn't actually request any information?
