If I use a address list in the "to" field, then save the message as draft when I
edit this message agian it doesn't restore the list itself - it restores the
list's name.


Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.create address list
2.compose new mail
3.use list in address fields
4. save as draft
5. edit the saved draft

Actual Results:  list's name appeared in the "to" field

Expected Results:  list should have appeared in the field

Before saving as draft, the address shows the name of the address list (with
list alias in brackets).
After Edit Draft, the exact same name of address list appears.
Note that if I send this edited draft, the address list is expanded into the
individual addressees, and each gets the mail. I think this operation is by
design, (under win95).

Could the reporter check if the name of the mailing list is actually being
expanded out in the to: box before save as draft ? Are you using the Address
Book to select a list ? Do you click on the List in the left pane (which expands
the names), or click on right pane (which doesn't expand the names) before
clicking the compose icon ?

This looks like Bug 11897 or Bug 45158, which resulted in the capability to do
what the writer is describing.

This bug isn't similar to 11897 or 45158.

Example:
I have a mailing list call mail-list and description 'some mailing list'
I open a new message. In the to: field I start to type "mai" it will
automaticall complete to 'mail-list <"some mailing list">', I press enter and
the to: fields contains 'mail-list <"some mailing list">' (the list isn't
expanded to individual names). If I would send the message now there will be no
problem.
I save the message as draft and later open the draft. The to: field will contain
'some mailing list <"some mailing list">'. If I'll try to send it I would get an
error from the mail server, something like: somemailinglist@mail... no such user.

The same thing happens if I select the list in the address book's right pane and
press compose. (no problem from the right pane)

I just had the same experience with version 1.2.1. I saved a message that was
being sent to a group. When I edited and tried to send it, the group name was
saved, but not the addresses. I had to re-address it to get the address group to
work.

Reporter (konszvi): is this bug still a problem for you?  I tried to duplicate 
with 1.3 Final and it seemed to be working fine.

This bug still exist. Tested in Mozilla 1.3 Win.
When a message is saved as draft the group's description is saved instead of the
group itself.
The program is then unable to convert the group back to the mail addresses.

Bug replicated with new profile:
- Created new profile
- Opened mail window and used the wizard to setup the email account
- Opened address book and added to email addresses
- created a new group that contain the two addresses. The group has name, nick
and description.
- Opened new mail message. Typed in the group nick and pressed enter - the line
shows the group's name and description. Added some text to the body, saved as
draft and closed the message.
- Reopened the message from the draft folder.
- In the address it shows the group's description twice.
- When I try to send it tries uses the group description with all the spaces
removed as the email address.

OK, I've reproduced it.  The key part is that the address book entry needs a 
multi-word description (with spaces) in order for the draft to fail -- just as 
reporter described in comment 2.  Sorry for not paying close enough attention!

Problem happens whether or not address list has a nickname.
