User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_6) AppleWebKit/604.5.6 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/11.0.3 Safari/604.5.6
Steps to reproduce:
This has happened twice.
Once in December, and this morning.
It looks weeks to recover last time so this time I am paying more attention.
I have screen shots of whatever state I could find that looked interesting.
A will attach them.
=====
A Mac sitting idle with Thunderbird up at work in a locked office, I was at home.
Activity manager reported deleting 5157 messages from inbox at 8:23 AM
They ended up in Trash on IMAP server.
New incoming mail is arriving in the inbox (as expected).
====
At home I have a MacBook running some version of Thunderbird on some version of MacOS (I can get this info if helpful).
I was using Thunderbird around this time and noticed the inbox go to 0 messages.
Actual results:
inbox contents were spontaneously moved to trash on an idle Mac.
Expected results:
inbox contents should not have been moved.
There are no filters that I can see that would have caused this.
The IMAP-side policy is to never delete mail, and I have no quota on the IMAP server.

Sorry for the long delay,
Any update on this issue PB, we don't seem to have any others like it in the system (that I was able to find) so this could be a one off situation.
Have you tried a newer version of TB (you should as 52 is no longer supported) ?
I haven't noticed this since, closing.
I don't see a "resolved as cannot repro", so moving to resolved.
