Priority: -- → P3
Maybe I'm misunderstanding this bug, but I just downloaded a fresh Developer Edition installer on macOS for a different bug and I can't reproduce. Launching the application creates a profile called "dkrad8je.dev-edition-default", according to about:support.
Thanks Al for the check and interest.
The feature that was exhibiting this bug hasn't been landed, hence it doesn't apply to the current Firefox version.

This is fixed in Windows.
