Details

When I type a term to be searched in the Release Candidate 2 and recent nightly
builds, the URL bar does not drop down with autocomplete suggestion and default
search engin search term.
If you type a couple of characters in the URL bar and then delete them, the drop
down list suddenly works again, unfortunately only for this time (also noticed
by the poster of bug 1437).

Another, more permanent workaround is to enable "autocomplete best match as you
type" in addition to the "show list of matching results" option in preferences.
This will also make the drop down list work again.
Sorry, typo: the bug I was talking about is bug 143746 :-(
The URL drop down list does not appear after the first use of the URL bar, and
doesn't reappear even when characters are deleted and re-entered as suggested by
comment 2. However even when the list does not appear, using the up an down
arrows will scroll through items on the list. It seems that the drop down list
is hidden behind the main browser window.

To make the list reappear temporarily, the main browser windows needs to be
moved before typing in the URL bar.
Are you guys using the Pinstripe theme, by any chance?
Ugh. Yes, I'm using this theme. I guess it's Pinstripe's fault then :-(
Thanks for the hint!
Not necessarily. Try it with the default Modern and Classic themes, though. Let
us know what happens.
I wasn't using pinstripe, I was using the modern theme when I discovered
the bug. I will try resinstalling it again tomorrow to make sure though.
For me it works with modern and classic, but not with pinstripe :-(
It looks like it indeed is a pinstripe theme bug. I reinstalled RC2 and used
the URL search with the modern theme and it works great!
Since this is a Pinstripe theme bug, I'm resolving this invalid.

Brian and "bugzilla@tuxtina.de", please be sure to communicate this problem to
Pinstripe's author. Feel free to reference this bug when you do.
