do you need some logs?
Yes, we need to figure out why the maintenance service wasn't used, so here's how to collect the log that might tell us that: 1) In the address bar, type "about:config" (without the quotes) and press Enter. You'll see a warning message; click the button to continue. 2) In the search box at the top of the page, type "app.update.log" (again without the quotes). That should reduce the list to one item; double-click that line to turn it bold and change the Value to true. 3) Restart Firefox. 4) Wait until the next update is available; since you're on Nightly, that won't be long. Or if you want to try this right now, you can install yesterday's build and update from that; you can download that build from http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2018/02/2018-02-08-22-00-29-mozilla-central/firefox-60.0a1.en-US.win64.installer.exe. 5) Open the About dialog to make sure an update check is run and the update is downloaded. 6) Open the Browser Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+J or selecting the item from the Web Developer menu. 7) Look for messages in the browser console window that start with "AUS:SVC". Copy and paste those messages here. Thanks!
hi! I've downloaded the old version and reupdated it... but this time everything works as usual. I'll keep the setting active to be prepared for the next time... is there something I should consider?
It could be that there was some problem with your old copy of the maintenance service; applying the update through the UAC prompt would have reinstalled the service, so maybe that repaired the problem. I'm going to close this bug for now since it seems like the issue might have gone away, but please keep an eye out and post back here if it happens again. Thanks!
