This is a transactional email to developers of self-distributed extensions for Firefox notifying them that unpacked WebExtensions will be deprecated starting with the release of Firefox 62.

We will cross-post this announcement to the Add-ons Blog, the dev-addons mailing list, and Discourse. 
>> How will success be measured?
Deliverability and email open rate 
>> What is the risk to not doing this?
Developers will not know this change is coming and will be upset when their unpacked extensions are no longer accepted. 
>> What's the timeline for launch?
We would like to send this email out on February 21, 2018. 
>> Any other info we should know?
Mike Conca is the owner of this email. 

Caitlin will set up the email and be responsible for sending it. 

We are currently working through the logistics of how to pull the list as we will likely need to add a telemetry probe to detect unpacked extensions. Jorge, Mike, and Shell to investigate.

We're going to cancel this email; we don't quite have the telemetry needed to pull a clean list at this point. We will likely be able to target a list later this year when additional telemetry probes land. In the meantime, we'll use other channels to send the 6 month notification for deprecation.
