In bug 1436445, we would require a higher resolution of the Firefox icon. The main reason is: we will ship a new type of Linux build with it (Therefore, we won't be able to rely on distros maintainers to pack it).

Would it possible to export it to hg, :shorlander?

I just saw bug 1415014 introduced default128.png (but not the 256 one) in the Linux package, especially for HiDPI purpose. :m_kato, do you think something higher than a 128*128 icon on Linux?

Actually, we already have 256x256 Firefox icon for official branding only.  Since GTK supports 512x512 size as maximum resolution, it is good to add higher resolution.  If adding 512x512 icon (Max resolution of our implementation is 256x256 by bug 1414881), we need detect this file on GTK widget.

And we don't copy default256.png to package now even if official branding.  Because other branding such as Nightly doesn't have default256.png.

Not enough.  For build system, we require all icons for Dev edition (Aurora), Nightly and Unofficial into browser/branding too.

There is no "unoffical" branding icon.... (https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/raw-file/tip/browser/branding/unofficial/default128.png)

This bug has had no activity for almost 3 years. I'm going to close it but feel free to reopen it.
