(Reporter: hippie, Assigned: Matti)
Details
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; H010818)
BuildID: 2002051006
Going to the "Window" menu and selecting "Mail & Newsgroups," "IRC Chat,"
or "Address Book" does nothing. I can continue browsing, and when I eventually
close Mozilla, it still shows up on the task list. (Not the task bar, but CTRL-
ALT-DEL shows it, and I have to end-task it before I can load Mozilla again.)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mozilla.
2. Click on the "Window" menu.
3. Click on "Mail & Newsgroups".
Actual Results: Nothing happens.
Expected Results: Mail & Newsgroups should open, somehow.
I'd never installed the Mail/News and IRC components before; I thought it might
be a problem with the way I installed this version (Uninstall rc1, install rc2)
and nuked *all* Mozilla references from my system after uninstalling, then
tried installing fresh. Same problem.

Can you check if Tools->Web development->Javascript Console says anything when
you try to launch these components? Also, did you get the installer to install
mozilla, or just the zip-file?
I really think this is a duplicate of 143726.

this is not a dupe...
Reporter:
Do you use a third-party Theme ?
Can you try a new profile ?
(run "mozilla -profilemanager" and create an additional test profile)
Have you deleted all files in c:\programs\mozilla.org\ after you uninstalled RC1
(save your plugins first)

Installer.
> Do you use a third-party Theme ?
Yes, but I've tried it with the default, as well.

I totally nuked rc1's c:\programs\mozilla.org *and* c:\windows\application
data\mozilla. It was a brand new profile.
I marked it as a duplicate because it seems related to the "can't open new
window" bug which I'm also experiencing.

I don't understand. Reporter says he has rc2, but build information is
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; H010818)
BuildID: 2002051006
My rc2 shows build information
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020510
Might it be some old stuff is floating around. This kind of bug has happened
with earlier versions of mozilla when third-party theme is installed. Bug
138239 or bug 136874 . If you uninstall third party themes problem might go
away. But this problem is definitely fixed for rc2.

This continued to happen even AFTER deleting C:\Program Files\Mozilla.org and
C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla, *and* deleting everything that looked like
'Mozilla' in the registry and reinstalling. Brand new, default theme, etc.
It looks like I must've screwed up the last time I did a nuke-and-install; on my
work machine, I cleanly uninstalled all extra themes before uninstalling
rc1--and everything seems to work fine with the Modern theme in rc2, now.
(And I really liked LittleMozilla :( ) Sorry to bother ya'all.
