:: Developer Documentation Request Request Type: New Documentation Gecko Version: unspecified Technical Contact: :: Details https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Developer_guide/Build_Instructions/Windows_Prerequisites Official builds currently use Visual Studio 2017. To use it, Officially, Firefox 48 or later build with Visual Studio 2015. You should be using Visual Studio 2015 to build all current versions of Firefox. It is contradictory.
So, this isn't quite contradictory. You can, technically, use VS 2015 still. it's not any longer the preferred solution. There probably are wording enhancements to be made here though.
Summary: It is inconsistent. → Inconsistent Visual Studio version numbers used in Windows build docs
