From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020510 BuildID: 2002051006 After a crash, while using RC1, all sidebar tabs disappeared. I have uninstalled RC1, removed all remnants I could find, cleaned out the registry, installed RC2, and the sidebar tabs are still missing. When I select Tabs/Customize Sidebar, I get a list of available tabs. When selecting one, I am able to preview it, but when selecting 'Add', the item gets greyed out immediately and is not added to the sidebar. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install RC1 2. Have it crash Actual Results: Sidebar tabs are gone forever Expected Results: The tabs should be restorable from the menu. A complete reinstall should certainly restore tabs, but it does not.
i have the same problems, can't add anything to the sidebar with mozilla rc2 (add button doesn't work). with an older version of netscape (6.1) i can add tabs to the sidebar, but the ok button is invalid so i have to cancel. in both versions preview works fine (and the search tab for example works fine too in preview mode)
Resolved problem by deleting profile before installing RC3. Note that profile directory is not even visible under Windows XP unless the path is manually typed in, so this is an extreme measure to solve the problem; one that the casual user would probably never discover. The suggested solution is still to protect the sidebar information from accidental deletion, especially deletion as the result of a crash.
reporter (Quentin): can you reproduce this with a recent build of mozilla? if so, please comment again with details. if not, please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME. thanks.
Problem does not reoccur in recent builds of Mozilla.
