STR on Mac OS X:
1. Open System Preferences
2. Go to Accessibility
3. Select Display section
4. Make the cursor size bigger than "normal" (I've got it on the 2nd notch)
5. Navigate to a website with tooltips and notice the cursor now covers the top-left part of the tooltip, possibly hiding the first characters.
E.g.:
- Go to https://stackoverflow.com/?tab=interesting and place the mouse cursor on top of a non-0 votes/answers/views box to the left of a question.
- Go to https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/ and place the mouse cursor on top of the main image.
I understand that this is kind of my fault, as I did make the cursor bigger.
But I think it would be great if Firefox could detect this accessibility choice, and adjust the tooltip placement so that it stays uncovered.
Other browsers, including Chrome and Apple's own Safari, show the same issue.

David, where would the best place be for this bug to live? Sounds like a nice feature request/bugfix.

This is a valid bug but probably can't get into a priority list given other bugs. I think it is a P5 and we'd take a patch or work on it when we can find time. I'll move to "Disability Access" for now... (and I'll raise the idea of renaming that component to "Accessibility" with the team).

Actually I'm going to guess this might be a widget bug... not sure if fixable or if controlled by OSX.
Component: Disability Access → Widget: Cocoa
Product: Firefox → Core

My own experience:
When the cursor size is at the minimum (default, aka "normal" in the Accessibility Settings), the pointer doesn't overlap tooltips.
As soon as I make it one notch bigger (20% between "normal" and "Large"), it starts encroaching on the tooltip.
See attached image (sorry for the horrible quality!)
Also happens with Windows 10 1903, which allows very large cursors.

Severity: normal → S3
S3 is for bugs with adequate workarounds. But, unless you can use standard minimal cursor sizes, there is no workaround.,
