From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.0rc2)
Gecko/20020510
BuildID: 2002051005

Clicking and dragging on the personal toolbar bookmarks menu responds by
dragging the bookmark button as if you were trying to reposition it, rather than
selecting the bookmarks from the menu that drops down.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the bookmark button on the personal toolbar without letting go of
the mouse button.
2. Drag down to select one of the bookmarks

Actual Results: The bookmark menu opens, but an outline of the bookmark button
drags downwards, and if you let go of the mouse button you get directed to the
ever-helpful http://www.bookmarks-button.com/

Expected Results: Dragging downwards should highlight the bookmarks in the
menu, and releasing the mouse should go to the selected page.

This worked correctly in RC1.
On closer observation, the bookmarks simply aren't highlighting. Releasing when
the mouse is over one does go to that page or open a submenu - it is only when
you move off of the menu and into the browser window as if to NOT select a
bookmark that you end up going to the non-existent http://www.bookmarks-button.com/

So the "Expected Results" should be:
1. Dragging down the menu should highlight the menu items.
2. Dragging OFF of the menu and releasing should close the menu and do nothing
else.

One more thing - if you drag into a textarea it pastes the text into it, like
this:

See? Fun.
This is probably a duplicate of bug 143785 and bug 143785.
Confirmed using FizzillaCFM/RC2. Probably is a duplicate of that bug, though it
has been duped of bug 143031.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Summary: Can't drag to select bookmarks from Personal Toolbar → Bookmarks on Personal Toolbar acting like draggable item rather than menu
Not a dupe of bug 143031. This bug is about preventing the drag of the bookmark
button. It happens on all platforms.
On linux, there is an additional bug that prevents seeing this one. The drag
gesture is fired when you just open the bookmark button.
Marking this bug as dependent of bug 139471 that fixes this issue anyways.

*** Bug 146759 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This problem is still present in RC3. It's *enormously*
annoying. I'm so used to dragging on the bookmarks button
that I'm doing it instinctively, and get bitten every time.
fixed by the checkin of bug 139471

I still see it in 1.0.0RC3 (2002053105). Is it only fixed in the 1.0.0+ builds?
this bug is fixed on trunk
The status of this bug (144274) shows that it has been resolved, but it occurs
consistently in :

Netscape 7.0 Preview Release 1
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020513 Netscape/7.0b1

It does *not* occur in:

Netscape 6.2.2
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.4.1) Gecko/20020314 Netscape6/6.2.2

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on the bookmark button on the personal toolbar without letting go of
the mouse button.
2. Drag down to select one of the bookmarks

Actual Results:
-- The bookmarks menu opens, but no highlighting of menu items occurs.
Menu Item selection is not possible.
-- The mouse icon changes from an "arrow" to the icon for "re-sizing" a window.
-- An icon of a small "page" appears
-- Browser takes a long time to respond. It eventually returns after which
scrolling, highlighting and selection of bookmark menu items occurs normally.

P.S. I have hit Josh McCormicks "Easter Egg" quite a few times this way

On Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.0.0) Gecko/20020625 Netscape/7.0,
I can actually drag a bookmark out of the dropdown and it loads it correctly.
Was that a feature someone attempted to implement? Does that still work after
this patch is applied? Should it?
Hmm.... , Mozilla 1.0.1rc1 Gecko/20020815 , and McCormick's page comes when I'm
dragging the bookmarks icon into the browser window .
Marking for consideration for 1.0.2
