Steps to reproduce:

I have the separate search box enabled (as dislike having search embedded in the url bar). In my search options I've turned off search suggestions. 

Using FF Quantum (58.0.2) in Linux Mint 17.3 with Cinnamon DE.


Actual results:

A floating search suggestions box appears some way below the search box.


Expected results:

No search suggestions should appear!

Works for me. The popup is correctly attached to the search bar. Can you reproduce the problem in a brand new profile? [1]

The screenshot doesn't show any search engine suggestions, only
* The search engine that will be used when pressing Enter or the submit button.
* Search engine discovery.
* Search settings link.

We saw other bugs related to Cinnamon, like bug 1401839, usually these are widget bugs
anyway, please do the usual troubleshooting first as suggested in comment 1
