The background memory consumption of mozilla is too high. Right now, I just
opened this one window and the mozilla quick start is running. Task manager
shows a total (mem + swap) memory consumption of about 67 MB !!!

My desktop is a lowly PII 200 Mhz with 128 MB RAM. Other constant apps running
are MSDev 6.0 (VC++, VSS), Outlook, Palm Desktop, Yahoo Messenger, Anti virus,
JRE, Textpad, management utils. All these already consume tons of memory.

Is there a way to reduce the mem consumption of mozilla ?

I would also like to add that the background CPU consumption is high: 30%.

- it is a product problem, so not for tech evang
- we have tons of bugs for the menory usage
- that 30% background is not normal, but maybe it's because your computer
doesn't meet to requirements...
- build was around 1 month old at the day of reporting this - not sure, if there
was a new release..

one good point: you reported which build you were using.
