RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 357480

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:58.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/58.0
Build ID: 20180208175058

Steps to reproduce:

There are numerous website tools now that offer .ICS file downloads for 'easy' integration of event details into personal calendars. One example is EventBrite.

Actual results:

Unfortunately these tools are pretty useless when it comes to Thunderbird. You click to download the .ics file, but Thunderbird doesn't have any file association with .ics files and the only way to use the .ics file is to save it somewhere (and remember the filename) then switch to Thunderbird and re-locate the file and import it into the Lightning calendar.

Expected results:

Thunderbird/Lightning should be clever enough to know what to do with a .ICS file. I think that a dialog should show what is contained in the ICS file (name of the event in the case of it just being one event) and then offer to import the event(s) into the default calendar (option choice to import to a different calendaR).

Other options could be added later, but this would be the normal use case for a .ICS file.
Yes, that's an ancient old request. Sadly still not implemented.
