With the browser open, either clicking the envelope icon or opening Mail and Newsgroups from the "Window" menu causes Mozilla to "unexpectedly quit." Started happening after installing the post security alert latest build.
This is an OSX / mozilla install problem somehow related to permissions in OS X. Opening Mail and Newsgroups works fine when opened as "administrator" although not as user with administrative privileges. One can't just drag the Mozilla folder to the hard drive as the instructions indicate. To be accessable to users it, or a copy, has to be dropped into the "Applications" file. "Fix" would be to change the install instructions to: " just drop this file into the Applications folder on the Macintosh HD"
Blake, can you attach a Crash Report?

You sure this is OS X-only? I'm experiencing the same problem on Win32, using 2002-05-18-08.
I am experiencing what seems to be the same thing on Win32 as well. OS: WinXP Mozilla Build: 2002051008 Talkback ID's: TB6534254Q (first crash; had enigmail) TB6679434Y (enigmail still installed) TB6679548Q (enigmail manually uninstalled) TB6679835W (new profile, canceled account wizard) TB6679871G (new profile, finished account wizard) Reproducability: Always It happens no matter if it's opened from the browser or directly from Start Menu. It happens whether it's a new profile or not. (I tried opening my existing profile, opening Mail & News Reader, it crashed...) It also happens if it's a new account or not. (I tried creating a new profile, opening Mail & News Reader, canceling the account wizard, it crashed. I tried creating a new profile, opening Mail & News Reader, completing the account wizard, it crashed.) Note: I installed Enigmail (component @ mozdev) and restarted mozilla just before experiencing first crash. I have since followed the instructions for manual uninstallation of Enigmail and the crash still occurs. Enigmail may not have anything to do with it, as I don't normally use Mozilla's mailer (Enigmail created the interest in it, and thus wouldn't have noticed the crash before trying enigmail) and certainly never tried using it on that build.
Can someone attach a recent stack trace or TalkBack ID?
This is not happening any more with build (Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020826)installed in the Applications folder not right on the hard drive. OS X last non-Jaguar update
Blake, do you experience the crash if you run Mozilla from outside the Applications folder again?
