Details

When opening the addressbook (either through component bar or menu), the
addressbook window pops up, followed by a browser window. The browser window
grabs focus, and appears to try to look for
find:datasource=history&match=AgeInDays&method=is&text=0&groupby=Hostname.
After a little while, this gets redirected to
http://apps5.oingo.com/apps/domainpark/domainpark.cgi?s=musicnow&dp_lp=7&cid=GOTO6262&dp_format=1.3&dp_p4pid=idealab&dp_own=Idealab&dp_cm=_b&dp_c1=000099

Half the time, this will cause Mozilla to hang. The rest of the time, it just
works as expected, except for the really annoying new browser window.

I've tried this on multiple WinXP boxes, and have seen this behavior. I've been
seeing this behavior since the mid-April builds.
This seems to be happening because the default tab selected in the sidebar panel
is History. However, a browser window popup is totally uncalled for until user
takes some action in the tab.

So, the quick work around for better startup experience is to change the default
tab (click on some other tab and close the addressbook to save the new one).

Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
I still didn't see the app in hung state though. My confirmation is with the
fact that it brings up the browser window when the addressbook is launched.
bug 144473 might be a dup
BTW, why isn't the addressbook using the same set of sidebar panels as the browser?

For example, I've unchecked the history tab in the browser, but the addressbook
still insists on showing it. Is this the expected behavior? Are users expected
to customize the sidebar on a per-component basis?
I would agree that bug 144473 is a duplicate, and I also agree that it has
something to do with the sidebar even though I don't run with it open : on first
opening the address book Mozilla always loads the top entry on the sidebar
history tab. There is NO reason for Mozilla to do this (like I said, I don't
even use the sidebar), and is still there from RC2 to ver 1.
this is bug 146619 / bug 128322
Fixed on trunk
I have exactly the same behavior with Mozilla 1.0 under Linux (SuSE 7.1 +
kernel 2.4.17). Side bar is not open in the browser but if I open it, I get the
same behavior and come to the same page.

BTW, this page is chosen because "find" is interpreted by Moz as "www.find.com"
and this URL brings you to the oingo.com page.

Testing further, going to the history tab triggers the find:... stuff.

Actually, the real explanation is that the sidebar in the Address Book is open
but is only visible as a small bar down-left. Do F9 some times having a good
look and you will understand what I mean. Unchecking View -> Show/Hide ->
Sidebar is the work around for the address book.

The real bug seem to me to be that the history panel sends a command find:...
which is wrongly interpreted as an URL by Moz.
Is it what is "fixed on trunk" ?
