OS X 10.1.4, when using RC2 release, splash screen displays "Registering component nsHelperAppDlg.js" and freezes. Disk activity continues for a moment, then halts, and the app appears to freeze. Still responds to a soft quit (from the Dock, no kill necesary), but launches thereafter will hang while the splash screen displays "Starting up..."

should be noted, this has not been fixed in nightly builds as of 5/14/02, so it persists beyond RC2.

This is still broken in rc3. Actually the browser will hang no matter what component it's registering, if you take nsHelperAppDlg.js out of the components folder, mozilla will hang on the next component. If you take out all the components with the .js extension, mozilla will hang on the .shlb files.
Still WFM using RC3. Mark, Nicolas, please test using a new Mozilla user profile.
fixed for me, i dumped my profile first (no fix), then some additional skins i'd downloaded, and it launched fine, RC2 and 3. thanks!
deleted two themes i had installed and rc3 loaded fine.
Interesting. Mark and Nicolas, what themes did you have installed? Mozilla should not fail to start up simply because it doesn't like some themes you have installed.
i had GreyModern and LittleMoz installed, greymodern as the startup theme. not sure of the version numbers, but i have since reinstalled them and everything is kosher.

After uninstalling LoFi and Pinball (from the View > Apply Themes > Theme Preferences... screen) I was able to load the new version of Mozilla. Great!
Do you remember what versions of those themes you had installed? Perhaps we can try to replicate this problem.
It would have been the ones compatible with Build 2002031005. Is that enough information, or is there some way for me to check even though they're uhninstalled?
Anyone have links to themes installable under 0.9.9? All the themes I can find require at least 1.0 RC1.

has been fixed since at least 0.5 for me, now running on 10.2.1...
Mark, are you referring to Chimera 0.5? Since you reported this bug about Mozilla, could you retest using that?
eek! sorry, too many open bugzilla reports. :) yes, this has been fixed for me in mozilla, since 1.1a. as i noted below, i had no problems after i deleted my profile and the some custom themes. sorry for any confusion.
