User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 Build ID: 20180317143930 Steps to reproduce: E.g. send a tab from one device to a GNOME device. Actual results: In the upper right a grey box is shown with the notification in it. Expected results: Show a native notification, as in previous versions. So I really think this is a regression.

Maybe it is affected by some other things, because one device I can reproduce it, on the other not. Both GNOME. So maybe the HiDPI setting affects this (of GNOME)?
It's not HiDPI. I could reproduce it on two device (one not HiDPI), but sometimes it works, soemtimes it doe snot. Both with Firefox 59.0.1 and 59.0.2. AFAIK in Firefox 58 it always worked. Also reported this issue downstream (Fedora 27), BTW: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1563012
We try to use native notifications unless the notification uses a feature which the native UI doesn't support (or we haven't integrated with).

Actually the current problem is (Firefox 60, still Fedora/GNOME, also on non-HiDPI devices) is that the notification is actually shown twice – one time as GNOME notification and one time as a grey box, which needs to be clicked away manually (or I always do, because it appears at the top of the screen and annoys me). So there is some integration (and it has been correct in the past!), but it's a bit broken currently.
