Starting with 20180330100123 build I am seeing my Gmail window blinking periodically. Thinking it might be webrender I turned it off, but the issue persists. Nothing of note in the console. I tried with a clean profile as well and I see the same issue.

I am using another Mac machine, and see the issue there as well.

I can confirm the bug on MacOSX, Linux is not affected. I haven't seen reports of a similar bug for Windows so far.

In the meantime I am going to ask for a backout so as to not block gmail for people over the week end. Thanks.

Does it affect other sites? I’m seeing a lot of blinking on mobile.twitter.com (latest Nightly on macOS). In this video (22MB) you can see the bottom-right button and the top toolbar blinking: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nxacoc25yycretb/fxnightly-fixed-flicker.mov?dl=1

Flipping layout.display-list.retain to false seems to fix it until the new Nightly gets built.

layout.display-list.retain=false stops the flickering on mobile.twitter.com too.

Bug 1443027 was reverted, so this should be fixed with the next nightlies that go out later today.

This problem still occurs for me on Facebook (the top bar is flickering), and extension popups (from the buttons next to the address bar). GMail is not affected. Latest nightly on macOS.
