User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0
Build ID: 20180326161258
Steps to reproduce:
Error:
Thunderbird / Enigmail does not automatically attach Sender’s public GPG key, even though it appears to be configured to do so. This seems to have started happening after I got the update to Enigmail 2.0.
I have also reported this bug to Enigmail / SourceForge.
To configure Thunderbird to attach the Sender’s public PGP key I have done the following:
-In the laft pane of Thunderbird right click on the Sender email address in question
-Click on Settings in the drop-down
-In the “Account Settings” window that appears, under the Sender’s email address in question, click on OpenPGP Security
-In the right pane of the “Account Settings” window click on the “Advanced...” button
-In the “Advanced Enigmail Identity Settings” window that appears, place a check next to “Attach my public key to messages”
-Click OK in the “Advanced Enigmail Identity Settings” window
-Click OK in the “Account Settings” window
I then compose an email as I normally would:
-Highlight the “Inbox” under the Sender’s account in the left pane of Thunderbird
-Click on the “Write” menu in Thunderbird
-Type in the recipient’s address, the subject, and the body of the email
-Click SEND in the upper left of the window where I compose the email
Results:
-The Sender’s public GPG key is NOT attached
I can “manually” attach the senders public key if I do the following:
-In the window where I compose the email I click on the “Enigmail” menu
-In the drop-down I click on “Attach Public Key...”
-In the “Enigmail Key Selection” window I place a check mark next to the Sender’s key entry
-Click SEND in the “Enigmail Key Selection” window
Results:
-The Sender’s public GPG key is IS attached. It has the format 0xBABEFACEBABEFACE.asc
I did a few sample emails to “gircuthrio@riseup.net”
I saved an Enigmail Debugging Log File.
Have I missed something in the Thunderbird or Enigmail configurations that is preventing Thunderbird from automatically attaching the Sender’s public GPG key?
