I restored a session on macOS after restarting for an update. One of my restored windows is minimized, but it doesn't seem to get a properly rendered thumbnail in the dock.
Maybe it's that we don't load the tab from that minimized window, but even so, I would expect a plain what tab rendering or something. Looking closely at the thumbnail, I don't even see a bright spot for the active tab, so perhaps it's the whole window that's not rendering correctly?
This might be more of a Cocoa widget issue rather than a Session Restore issue.

Cameron, thanks for filing this - and others ;) It *might* have to do with sessionstore as it loads background tabs lazily, but like you said, it's probably a mix with cocoa widget as well.
I think we should move this issue to that component, since I don't have any reports of this issue on other platforms.
Does this happen for you on each restart? Are there reliable STR?

Hmm, so I just tried to do this again by applying an update to restart, and this time during session restore the window did the shrinking animation to minimize it but then immediately was restored again.
After that, I re-minimized the window myself, then did a normal Cmd+Q quit and restarted Nightly, and this time the restored window did stay minimized with the funny thumbnail rendering.

This may be due to bug 1405577. See bug 1405577 comment 7 for a description of the problem. We used to have a slightly more complex patch up for review, which we might want to resurrect if it fixes this bug here. See bug 1405577 comment 13 and bug 1405577 comment 15.
