Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 Build ID: 20180323154952 Steps to reproduce: I watch HTML5 videos (mainly YouTube) in fullscreen on macOS. Actual results: Other than Safari Firefox does not use the native solution of creating a new space for the video, but covering the actual one with the video. Thus: - I am not able to access the menubar by moving the cursor to the top of the screen. - I am not able to access the dock by moving the cursor to the bottom of the screen. - I am missing out on any notification while watching the video. - I am not able to switch between my desktop and the video by using swipe gestures. Expected results: I guess, those problems could be solved by at least allowing the option to use native fullscreen mode for video playback on macOS.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 (20180323154952) I was able to reproduce this issue using latest Fx release, Beta and Nightly build. When running a youtube video in fullscreen I`m not able to access the menubar by moving the mouse to the top nor the dock by moving the mouse to the bottom. In Chrome I`m able to access either the menubar or the dock by moving the mouse. I think the proper component would be Toolkit::Audio/Video Controls. Please change if this is not the right component.

I don't think 1403085 is a duplicate of this bug as it discusses native full screen for the browser window, not for video playback. I have no problems with native full screen for the browser window.

(In reply to misc.ds from comment #3) > I don't think 1403085 is a duplicate of this bug as it discusses native full > screen for the browser window, not for video playback. No, it doesn't. See comment #1: (In reply to Stephen A Pohl [:spohl] from bug 1403085 comment #1) > (In reply to Michał Gołębiowski-Owczarek [:mgol] from comment #0) > > Firefox seems to be the only browser on macOS that doesn't rely on native > > fullscreen. > > We fully support native fullscreen. Clicking the green titlebar button will > activate native fullscreen. The fullscreen mode discussed here is an > additional fullscreen mode that can be initiated from JavaScript, which is > believed to yield a better user experience. and comment 11 which applies also to your case: (In reply to Xidorn Quan [:xidorn] UTC+10 from bug 1403085 comment #11) > Note that as a workaround, you can always use the native fullscreen by > having the Firefox window enter full screen mode first (click the green > button or "Full screen" item in the menu), then fullscreen the video you > arebwatching.
