Progress: basic mouse events and typing are now working. Had to use implement much
of this by explicit posting of Carbon events. Mouse tracking / dragging is still not working.

What does this bug mean? I don't understand...
Can we get permission to package the sourceforge Java Embedding Plugin with
Camino and have done with this? I think it's only a shim through Apple's
Wewbkit and Java Embedding Framework, so it is a bit of a hack, but Jasper is
already commenting WFM on several Camino Java bugs based on this plugin.

(In reply to comment #14)

I'm the Java Embedding Plugin's author. This issue has been raised
and discussed several times at bug 197813. Read through the last 25
or so comments and post there, if you'd like. I don't think the Java
Embedding Plugin is yet ready for inclusion with
Mozilla/Firefox/Camino, which would put it into the hands of tens of
thousands of naive users. But not-so-naive users can already find it
pretty easily, and I think it's fine to direct Mac users who report
Java problems to the Java Embedding Plugin's home page (I've been
doing this myself).

But I don't want to repeat myself. See under bug 197813 for a more
detailed discussion.

It's not. Take a look at the Readme and the source code (the code is
heavily commented, and it should be possible to understand many of the
comments without understanding the code).

> it is a bit of a hack

It _is_ a hack ... but that's what's required.

Simon, was this bug essentially about adding features now provided by the JEP?
Is it still valid? Whatever it is, it escaped our Java meta tracker, so
blocking bug 224615 to get it on that list.
Blocks: 224615
Yeah, this is obsoleted by the JEP
