User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 Build ID: 20180404120016 Steps to reproduce: Prerequisites: Firefox 59.0.2 (64-bit) under Ubuntu 16.04 LTS The following options are enabled: Open links in tabs instead of new windows option When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately Actions: 1. Open an instance of Firefox. 2. Browse to a webmail site (such as https://webmail.exchange.telus.com/owa/) 3. Open a new instance (window) and browse to some other web site (such as accuradio.com) 4. Bring the first instance into focus and click on a webmail message. A popup containing the email appears. 5. In the email message, click on a link. Actual results: The link clicked on opened in a new tab in the second instance (accuradio.com). Expected results: The link should have opened in a new tab in the first instance (containing the webmail tab)
Hi Allan, Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to reproduce the issue on Firefox 59.0.2 on Ubuntu 16.04 x64 and Windows 10 x64. Since I did not have credentials to use for https://webmail.exchange.telus.com/owa/, I tried to reproduce it by opening the link from a Gmail pop-up notification. The link was opened in a new tab in the first instance as expected. Can you please retest the issue using the latest Firefox release 59.0.3, latest Nightly and report back the result? Consider using a new clean Firefox profile (https://goo.gl/AWo6h8) as well as safe mode (https://goo.gl/AR5o9d), to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause. Thank you.

I tried this and can't reproduce it anymore. Either the bug was fixed or the functionality changed enough that the bug is no longer relevant.
