User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.13; rv:61.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/61.0 Build ID: 20180507191226 Steps to reproduce: Click "Firefox Nightly" in MacOS menu bar, click "About Nightly", click "Restart to update" Actual results: Nightly restarts without applying any update or showing the Mozilla updater service and the "Restart to update" button is still active. Clicking again, we go in a loop. Expected results: Nightly should have restarted, showed the "Firefox Nightly is installing your updates" and loaded up with the newest update.

Thanks for reporting this. The quickest way to fix the problem would be to just download a new copy and overwrite your current Firefox.app. But if you have a few minutes before you do that, I'd like to get some more information to try and see what's going on here. Specifically I'd like to see a couple of log files, which should be located at: ~/Library/Caches/Mozilla/updates/Applications/Firefox/updates.xml and ~/Library/Caches/Mozilla/updates/Applications/Firefox/updates/0/update.log (or updates/last-update.log if this file doesn't exist) If you could attach those files here, that should help us start to figure out what's going on. There won't be any personal information in those files except for your Mac user name in update.log, which you can remove before you attach the file if you want, it's probably not important for me to know. Thanks again.

Hi Matt, ~/Library/Caches/Mozilla/updates/Applications/Firefox is empty and the path to /Firefox/updates/0/update.log doesn't exist. I do have a Firefox Nightly folder in /updates/Applications/ and updates/0 has the files "update.mar", "update.status", and "update.version". I did not find updates.xml, update.log or last-update.log. I should have mentioned in the initial comment that the original build that stopped updating was 4-8-2018. I recently updated to MacOS 10.13.4 in hopes that it would fix it but too no luck. I have since downloaded several Nightly dmgs to stay up to date and regain updating capabilities but that has not happened so far. My current build is 20180510220127.

I just downloaded 2 nightly dmgs aand threw them into /Applications hoping to get rid of the restart to update button and finally get it updating. I guess I will have to wait until the morning build and see if it will update and restart normally. It may have been just a fluke and needed persistence. I will write back if I receive the update and close this bug as invalid if the issue solves itself and if not, move forward with whatever else you need.
New profile seems to have fixed the issue. I wish I didn't have to do that but it was necessary. I was running on a 5 year old profile that went between Nightly and Beta. Sorry for the useless bug.
