When loading a large pdf file using the pdf plugin no status is given as to how
much of the file has been loaded. As a result, if you do not know how large the
file is you may think the plugin is hung when in fact it is not.

It would be good for the status line at the bottom of the browser to say something
more than "Staring plugin for type application/pdf". Something which indicates
that the pdf file is actually loading would be helpful.

There is a Transfering data notation in the status bar. We removed the Starting
plugin for type message due to other issues (please see bug 106411)

I'm running build 2002052306 on XP and I'm not seeing the status bar ever change
while the pdf file is loading into acrobat 4.0. (not acrobat reader). There is
no indication anywhere that the pdf is actually loading vs being hung.

When you say, "There is a Transfering data notation in the status bar.", I'm
expecting this to mean that I should see the status bar in the lower right of
the browser do something but it remains empty.

What am I missing?

For an example try :

http://www.gl.iit.edu/wadc/history/Roswell/Report/fullreport.pdf
Worksforme with build 2002081308, Mac OS 9.2.2. When loading
<http://www.gl.iit.edu/wadc/history/Roswell/Report/fullreport.pdf> I get
`Resolving host www.gl.iit.edu...', `Transferring data from www.gl.iit.edu...',
and a determinate progress indicator. See also bug 92989.
