From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020510
BuildID: 2002051006

When the window is resized to < 100 pixels high, the lower half of the vertical
scrollbar seems to be off the bottom of the window, espcially for very short
pages (<5 lines)

When the window is resized to < 350 pixels wide, the vertical scrollbar is
missing altogether.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any page (small page rather than large page)
2. Resize the window to < 100 pixels high
3. See v scrollbar lower half is missing, H Scrollbar gone.
4. Resize the window to < 350 pixels wide
5. See v scrollbar scroll off to the right!

Actual Results: V scrollbar half gone in narrow window:
http://www.slac.stanford.edu/~smeyer/Mozilla/snap1.gif
H scrollbar gone in short window:
http://www.slac.stanford.edu/~smeyer/Mozilla/snap2.gif

Expected Results: Scroll bars should always be visible unless the whole page
fits within the wondow.
Vertical scrollbar pushed out of sight is dup of bug 106927.

Horizontal scrollbar: unable to reproduce what the screenshot displays, unless
sidebar is showing:

-If sidebar is showing (closed) - the scrollbar will vanish around the point
where i make window lower than the grippy.

-Otherwise the horizontal scrollbar "snaps out of sight" first when content area
is so small there space left equals the height of approx two scrollbars.
Summary: Vertical scrollbar missing or incorrect for very small window → Vertical scrollbar missing or incorrect for very small window
I looked at bug 106927. It indicates a link between the number of tabs open and
the disappearance of the vertical scrollbar. When there are too many tabs for
each to be displayed at its minimum width, within the width of the window, the
vertical scrollbar is pushed off the window, to the right. I was able to
reproduce this effect with only 4 tabs, in a very narrow window, with
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.0rc3) Gecko/20020523

This is not what was happening in the case which I reported. If you look at the
screenshot that I made (http://www.slac.stanford.edu/~smeyer/Mozilla/snap1.gif),
you will see that there are only two tabs, and they are not particularly narrow.

I have since then updated from Gecko/2002051006 to Gecko/2002052306, and I have
not been able to reproduce the bug that I saw in Gecko/2002051006. Indeed the
behavior is exactly as described in "Additional Comment #1 From R.K.Aa
2002-06-01 23:55" with regard to the vertical scrollbar being pushed off the
window by too many tabs.

However, the horizontal scrollbar still disappears when the window is about 100
pixels high. Screenshot to display this in Gecko/2002052306 is at
http://www.slac.stanford.edu/~smeyer/Mozilla/snap3.gif.
The window is about 140 pixels high.
Some dup marking needs to be done, but I'm not sure which is the best bug:

bug 48798 - GFX Scrollbars disappear when window gets very small
bug 119677 - wrong scrollbar behaviour
bug 146295 - Vertical scrollbar missing or incorrect for very small window
bug 163803 - Scrollbar does not appear for small view sizes

my inclination is to keep bug 48798 and dup the rest, but I'll let those
involved make the call and do the deed :)

-matt
well this one at least seems to be a good candidate for duping to the other one...
