Steps to reproduce:
Hi,
currently when a search is created from cmdline with:
firefox -search foo
the search is opened in a new window. In contrast, calling
firefox "www.google.com"
from cmdline, brings up google in a new tab.
Would be nice to create a more consistent user experience and at least allow to do searches in a new-tab instead of always opening the search in a new window

The suggestion from bug 1602264 is that --new-tab --search foo should open a new tab rather than a window.
I think there's certainly some potential benefits to making these options work together more, or potentially changing the defaults.
