Crash Data

With 52.8.0 we are seeing a ton of these crashes - it's #1` crash by far. All windows 10. Mostly Italian locale. Good chance it's not caused by us but creating this for the record. Might be one-drive or dropbox related

So we are probably looking at bug 1458562 Crash in UserCallWinProcCheckWow after win10 1803 update with 3rd party Athena smartcard software
Reporter of bp-f20a2bac-2030-4ab6-9baf-00acd0180516 tells me "I updated Athena drivers for ID Protect Monitor and now Thunderbird crashes seems are gone. ... I downloaded from the following page the Windows driver 6.44.10 (section "ACTALIS" in the drivers table) http://sistemats1.sanita.finanze.it/wps/content/portale_tessera_sanitaria/sts_sanita/home/il+cittadino+e+la+tessera/come+si+attiva+la+cns/elenco+driver+tscns "

Summary: Crash in __RtlUserThreadStart | _RtlUserThreadStart. Windows 10. Mostly Italian locale → Crash in __RtlUserThreadStart | _RtlUserThreadStart. Windows 10. Mostly Italian locale. Caused by Athena ID Protect Monitor drivers.
FWIW, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1218441?page=2#answer-1114010 states "The crash happens (even when I have all the add on disabled) exactly as soon as the screen saver starts or as soon as I open the screen settings!!! As long as the screen saver doesn't start TB works well even with ALL add on activated!!! So I may affirm that the culprit is the screen saver or the settings of energy saving that will shut off the screen!!!
Other signatures [@ patched_BaseThreadInitThunk ] and [@ UserCallWinProcCheckWow ]

All of the crashes I've looked at have version 6.0.0.9 of aseVCAPI.dll
Crash Signature: [@ __RtlUserThreadStart | _RtlUserThreadStart] → [@ __RtlUserThreadStart | _RtlUserThreadStart] [@ patched_BaseThreadInitThunk ] [@ UserCallWinProcCheckWow ]
So far I've had three categories of responses from users
A. Updating Athena drivers helped
B. Updating Athena drivers did not help
B1. Updating Windows helped
B2. Nothing helped
signature breakdown:
* patched_BaseThreadInitThunk - only beta users (#1 crash)
* __RtlUserThreadStart | _RtlUserThreadStart, - mostly 52.x, but also other versions, NO beta (#2 crash for 52.8.0)
* UserCallWinProcCheckWow - mostly 52.x, but also other versions, and some beta (#3 crash for 52.8.0)

bug 1458562 hasn't resulted in any solutions

According to a user - 6.44.10 works from section "ACTALIS" in the drivers table for Windows - he downloaded from http://sistemats1.sanita.finanze.it/wps/content/portale_tessera_sanitaria/sts_sanita/home/il+cittadino+e+la+tessera/come+si+attiva+la+cns/elenco+driver+tscns but that page has changed and I cannot find ACTALIS.
I went to website and located this:
https://sistemats1.sanita.finanze.it/portale/elenco-driver-cittadini-modalita-accesso?inheritRedirect=true

ACTALIS is listed here.

Wayne, can you confirm I located the correct place ?
Indeed I use a Smart Card Reader and
I verified that if I keeps my Smart Card Reader plugged in then TB do not crash.
As soon as I unplug the Smart Card Reader TB start crashing.
There is a more general problem of compatibility. Those libraries brake other applications too.

I can confirm I installed that driver from that page. As I wrote
I verified that if I keeps my Smart Card Reader plugged in then TB do not crash.
As soon as I unplug the Smart Card Reader TB start crashing.
