Building on Odroid C2 system-on-a-chip.
Linux Crux-arm distribution for arm64 architecture -- at once a state-of-the-art environment and a plain standard Linux installation.
Every required component, including NSS, X.11, image format support libraries, were build with the plain build process for this Linux package management environment.
For firefox, I had first a memory full (no swap partition on this SOC with 32GB MicroSD as the only mass storage), which I worked around (my guess) with a "make -j1" configuration setting.
My three next attempts also had some cc1 kill symptom during the build, without an error message pointing to some source code lines. The troubleshooting is not facilitated by meager build process log (my understanding).
I suspected some MicroSD media read error, but a second unzipped firefox source tarball did not reveal any source file corruption on the MicroSD.
Find attached a gzipped tar file of two logs of my build effort.
My message might be categorized as a need for help in a not very well mastered build environment, but the insufficient (my understanding) troubleshooting data in the log could be seen as a minor bug.
Regards,

Someone mentioned that a multi-gigabyte swap file is required for building large packages in those ARM-based SOC. I was able to meet this requirement with NFS-based swap file, and firefox build was successful.
Maybe a hint into that prerequisite would be deserved in installation instructions for ARM as the embedded/IOT world is expanding and a "thing" with a touch-screen display may require a browser ...
Otherwise, this bug request turns moot.
Thanks for firefox distribution to marginal Linux distributions.

I'm not a build peer, but you're likely kinda on your own here, as building on this OS/hardware combination sounds like Tier 3 at best (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Supported_build_configurations).
I'd also be mildly surprised if it's even possible to build Firefox on such a limited system.

I think we'd take patches to warn if you're trying to build Firefox on a (Linux) system where RAM + swap < 8GB or so. People have also had success tuning linker options for lower memory usage; we could suggest those in the aforementioned warning.
