Filing this per mconley's suggestions in his "Firefox Headlines (May 24th, 2018)" email.
I used to be able to type "map" (or it might even have been "ma") and press Enter to visit maps.google.com. Other URL prefixes seem to still work, e.g. "bugz" going to bugzilla.mozilla.org, and "ne" going to "news.ycombinator.com". So I'm not sure why "map" isn't working any more, or whether it was indeed due to bug

Not sure what happened, but several hours later, this suddenly this works again (and I didn't restart the browser).
