Yesterday I translated a string, which was already committed to the repo and one can look it up in Transvision. However, the machinery tab doesn't find a match for it, which is frustrating given that this is a 100% match. I would have expected the string to be there ready to be reused. I don't know what the status of the TM feature is, but overall as a translator I sense that it misses many matches and I end up translating the same thing multiple times. See the attached screenshot for reference.

In the screenshot, the first item in the list of strings is identical to the currently open string. As said, this is already present in Transvision too; it's the 3rd result.

I'm pretty sure the problem is the current 255 characters limit, but apparently I can't find a bug on file to fix that limit?

related bug* (sorry, I dropped the Enter key too fast). But from what I remember, there's no bug for the real cause of this issue which is limit of 255 characters in the Postgresql database. I can create a new bug with more details about this issue.

Confirming this is indeed caused by exceeding the maximum string length in TM queries. Filed bug 1469010.
