Steps to reproduce:

Compose a new message.

Write some text and select it.

Press Control+U as it is stated in the menu Insert->Link.


Actual results:

The text is underlined.


Expected results:

A window should have opened to enter the link properties. That is what happens if you insert the link from the menu.

Previous shortcuts to insert a link do not work: Control+L, Control+K

Something is wrong with your menu as you point out :)

What locale are you using?
And does the problem also happen if you start Thunderbird in safe mode?

The problem is the same in safe mode.

My locale is basque (eu).

I don't get what you mean by "locale choice".

I have just tested it in basque. I downloaded thunderbird with the locale in basque and used no other.

Also, the pt-PT localizer wouldn't really be able to help if the problem is with Basque.

From the link Francesco shared it's obvious what would be the fix, however I'm flagging Ander and passing this over to him as he's been maintaining the Thunderbird localization up-to-date lately.
