From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.0rc2) Gecko/20020510
BuildID: 2002051006

When starting Mozilla, when the splash screen is being displayed, Mozilla
crashes with "Mozilla caused an error in msvcrt.dll". The only option is to
click OK which quits the program.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Unzip Mozilla.
2. Run Mozilla.

Actual Results: "Mozilla caused an error in msvcrt.dll" error appears.

Expected Results: Mozilla should start and open the browser.

This is Mozilla 1.0 Release Candidate 3. It is the zip version (no installer).
It is in a different directory to Mozilla RC2.

are you starting mozilla with browser or mail first?
(could be dup of topcrash bug 142847)

Hi!

I'm facing the same problem with the 1.0-RC3 release (I didn't with the 1.0-Rc2
one).

My OS is win98-SE.

No talkback...

this may still be a dup, according to comments in similar crashes

If you try this:

cd to your profile directory (somewhere below documents and settings \ mozilla )
and delete the file called XUL.mfl there
(Deleting it is harmless: it is recreated on next startup)

Does mozilla then start?
